Retro-Themed Leavenworth Wedding at Beecher Hill House

Brian and Liz (or “Briz”) put together one of the most fun, unique weddings I have EVER seen, hosted at the beautiful Beecher Hill House wedding venue in Leavenworth and filled with the most incredible retro wedding decor you could ever dream of. If you’re a fan of bold, bright colors, 70’s themed snacks, and the beautiful scenery of central WA, you’re going to love this stunning Leavenworth wedding!

Brian + Liz (Briz)’s Retro-Themed Wedding in Leavenworth, WA

About the couple + their Leavenworth destination wedding

“Brian and I are all about color, entertaining, and laughing, and making our wedding as not-stuffy as possible!” We’ll also be relying on some retro vibes to fit our aesthetic!”

You bet that as soon as I read that in Brian & Liz’s inquiry, I was over the moon excited about the potential of photographing their wedding. Brian is originally from WA, so despite currently living in Chicago, these two decided to turn their special day into a destination wedding for all their guests! They knew they loved Leavenworth and wanted to make their wedding a super fun experience for their guests, so they put the majority of their time into fun, unique details as well as a lively itinerary of wedding-weekend activities – and it all worked out so dang beautifully.

Brian & Liz (AKA “Briz”) started their wedding celebration off with a welcome party to enjoy time with their guests, which I sooo recommend if you’re doing a destination wedding. This was only the start to a memorable experience for their guests, and a very meaningful one for the two of them! Their day was full of personal touches, with both Liz’s brother & Brian’s cousin officiating the ceremony, and Liz wrapping her bouquet in a heart-shaped necklace gifted to her by Brian. And get this – he bought the necklace when he was 12 (12!) in Europe to give to his future wife. Is this real life or are we in a Nicholas Sparks novel?!

Despite the literal 108° heat, this day was absolutely beautiful and Liz + Brian made it the best experience for everyone involved!

The retro wedding aesthetic of my dreams

I still have not gotten over the retro wedding theme that Liz & Brian chose!! They wanted to fill their decor with all the best 70’s retro vibes to fit their personal aesthetic, and they did a damn good job at it. Literally every detail was infused with some sort of retro feel, be it the bold, chunky fonts of the stationery, the bright colors of the hanging reception decor and floral arrangements, or the custom wedding favors each guest was gifted.

They even created an entire wedding day booklet for every guest, printed on newspaper and filled from start to finish with fun games + puzzles, bold colors, and all the details of the day! P.S. Liz & Brian’s last name together is Gouldfisher, so they found some super fun ways to incorporate that into their wedding stationery and decor.

AND they hired a local Leavenworth baker, The Gingerbread Factory, to create personalized wedding-day gingerbread houses. I swear I didn’t even know that was a thing!! I could spend hours writing about every color-filled, retro-themed detail from Liz & Brian’s day, but instead I added a dedicated section further down in this blog where I show you alllll the photos of their decor. If you’ve ever considered having retro wedding decor, you will absolutely be convinced by the end of this, I guarantee it!

Retro Wedding Decor Inspiration

I’ve been dying to share this gallery ever since I photographed it, not only because of how much I adore Liz & Brian, but also because the world NEEDS to see the stunning theme they brought to life: a full-on, colorful, vibrant, and spectacular 70’s retro wedding aesthetic. They put so much thought and intention into every small detail, and truly put so much effort into making it a fun day just for them but for their guests. If you’ve ever found yourself wondering what retro-themed wedding decor could look like, here’s all the inspo you will legit ever need!

Retro wedding invites

I mean, come on – have you EVER seen such adorable wedding save-the-dates or RSVP requests?!

Retro wedding day itineraries

Yes, wedding day itinerary booklets for guests – complete with a day-of schedule of events, transportation + lodging info, and games (like crossword puzzles related to LIz & Brian’s love story) for their guests to play throughout the day. The cutest thing I’ve ever seen😭

Retro wedding stickers

These two literally ordered custom-made retro stickers for their wedding day, from bright pink knockoff BudLight stickers to their faces on goldfish (Gouldfish). I could not even believe my eyes when I saw how adorable these were.

Retro wedding welcome sign

Of COURSE they had a totally unique + beautiful wedding welcome sign, designed with custom fonts, bold colors, and some floral accents to walk guests through the day’s schedule!

Retro wedding favors

You thought the retro fun stopped at the wedding night, but nope – Liz & Brian even put together the cutest favors for their guests to take home! From custom-labeled jars of local jam to personalized drink koozies & mugs to match the retro wedding theme, these may have been the most unique wedding favors I’ve seen yet.

Retro wedding reception games

Somehow they even incorporated their retro theme into the games they had for their guests to play, with massive versions of old-school games like Connect-4 and Jenga. Shoutout to Off the Block Games, a custom game & decor rental company based out of Seattle!!

Colorful retro wedding bouquet

Last but not least we’ve got Liz’s STUNNING retro-inspired wedding bouquet, jam-packed with bold, vibrant colors including plenty of shades of pink, light blue, cream, and orange. I’m not sure how Verbena Floral managed to bring the 70’s to life in a floral arrangement but somehow, through some form of magic, they did just that!

Leavenworth Wedding Vendors

This lively, joy-filled wedding would not have been possible without the help of the talented vendors who contributed – each of the vendors below helped bring this 70’s retro-themed wedding fully to life. Liz and Brian hired so many local Leavenworth vendors and shops for different parts of the day, which was super awesome!
